In the early 1960’s, John and Agusta Dennis who at the time were members of the Babylon Seventh-day Adventist church in Babylon New York felt impressed by God to start a church plant in the town of Huntington. At that time, there were no Seventh-day Adventist churches in the area. The church plant began as a small group composed of four adults and five small children. The group met weekly for Sabbath services at the Nodern Lodge located in Huntington Station. In time, the group grew to 15 adults who later became the church’s charter members. Collectively, they raised $5,000 and on February 6, 1962 purchased the Bethany Presbyterian Church on 21 West 9th street in Huntington Station, which became the Huntington Seventh-day Adventist church. During its 50+ years history, Huntington church welcomed 14 pastors. The first pastor of that congregation was Pastor Carl Groom who served from 1961 to 1967. Pastor John Baldwin 1967 to 1972 followed him. Then came Pastor Nikolaus Satelmajer 1972 to 1976. Pastor Shoemaker 1976 to 1979. Pastor John McClarty 1979 to 1983. Pastor Trevor Forbes 1983 to 1988. Pastor Dudly Thorn 1988 to 1992. Pastor Mettasais Patrick 1992 to 1996. Pastor Andrew Hospedales 1996 to 2001. Pastor H. Orette Mitchell 2001 to 2002. Pastor Lindford Martin 2002 to 2005. Pastor Corben Crew 2005 to 2007. Pastor Lincoln Smith 2007 to 2012. Pastor Eddly B. Benoit 2012 to Present.

The first evangelistic meeting was held under a bubble tent at the Huntington Railway Station lead by pastor Ron Halverson. At the end of the meetings, the church added 11 members to its rolls. The history of Huntington Church is still being written, and we would love for you to be a part of it.
